Based out of the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, the “Tartan Butler” is a newly appointed concierge helping visitors discover their Scottish heritage.

Andy Fraser, otherwise known as the Butler, is a long time fan of Scottish and clan history. Fraser’s interest in genealogy began with the research of his own Scottish ancestors, taking him back to 11th century France.

Fraser’s services depend on the guests’ needs and start out with an itinerary.

We’ll sit down and have coffee. I plan itineraries to where their clan originally was from, where they ended up; I help with accommodations…Some guests are particularly fond of including whiskey distilleries in their touring plans. That’s the one thing I always get from Americans.
