Warpia Wireless A/V Display Adapter: Stream Your Computer’s Media to Your TV

If you haven’t yet noticed, there’s a slick travel trend a-brewin’ in luxury hotels around the world. Many have begun installing A/V inputs on their in-room TVs and media systems, allowing guests to watch videos and listen to music from their own laptops. Sweet!

This is great … if you happen to be staying in a swank $400-a-night hotel room. But what if you had the ability to do this in virtually any hotel room – luxury or not – in the world? Enter Warpia’s Wireless Audio/Video Display Adapter (model # SWP100A) which promises to do just that.

In Detail

First Impressions

This is a niche gadget for sure. Its purpose is two-fold: viewing your PC’s (computer or laptop) media content on your home TV OR viewing said content on a hotel/friend’s TV while traveling.

As an avid traveler, I use it for both. I’d rather not pay an exorbitant monthly cable bill and this adapter has allowed me to do that (I use Netflix and Hulu). Plus, I love listening to my own music and watching my own TV/movies while traveling. Assuming my destination hotel room offers a TV built after the Reagan administration (i.e. proper input jacks), this adapter allows me to do that too.

Construction

The first thing we noticed upon opening the box is that both the A/V base and wireless adapters feel solid and remarkably well built. In an era of poorly constructed “me-too” devices, I personally welcome this.

Setup

It should come as no surprise that everything to get started is included in the box. Setup was a snap: drop the CD in, install the software, plug in the devices and … that’s it. Everything worked immediately without any issues whatsoever.

Performance

You’re thinking: all of these features sound awesome! But … does it work? After four months of almost daily, we can safely say that we’ve had nary a problem with the device – no lags, no freezing. It’s performed flawlessly.

Pricing & Availability

Available now for around $120 USD direct from Warpia.com. We’ve also seen them for as low as $100 on Amazon.com.

Bottom Line

To be clear, this is a niche travel gadget for sure. But flashpackers and media geeks (myself included) will certainly appreciate the ability to enjoy their entire media library virtually anywhere they travel.
