For a woman in Japan, “ochobo” can mean that eating a meal is a rude act. Ochobo means small and modest mouth. In the Japanese culture, if a woman is seen opening her mouth wide, such as to eat a large item like a hamburger, it is considered rude. Japanese burger chain Freshness Burger recently found a solution with their “Liberation Wrapper”.

The chain’s burger wrappers feature a partial female face with a closed mouth, allowing the female eater to finish her burger without shame or ridicule. Since introducing the wrapper, Freshness Burger has seen an increase in sales from women spike 213%. Read more and see images of the wrapper at The Huffington Post.
