G-Form Extreme Portfolio Sleeve: Badass Mobile Protection for Your iPad

It’s no secret that we’re long time fans of G-Form’s entire line of badass mobile cases.

Back in September, we reviewed their Extreme Sleeve 2 and dubbed it the “most rugged iPad case available” (see this video if you need convincing).

Now, they’ve expanded their lineup and improved upon the Extreme Sleeve 2 with the Extreme Portfolio for iPad. And, as in the past, they were kind enough to send us a sample for review.

The Skinny

In their own words, G-Form details the Extreme Portfolio as:

… a lightweight and water-resistant portfolio case that also has an internal layer of polycarbonate on one side in addition to an inside pocket for documents.

The G-Form Extreme Portfolioâ„¢ can be opened and used in several configurations. The front cover can be reverse-zipped behind your tablet device which offers two levels of RPTâ„¢ protection. In this position, the front screen is still protected by RPTâ„¢ corners that also serve to hold it securely in place.

The Extreme Portfolioâ„¢ can also be used in an easel or A-frame configuration in either landscape or portrait mode.

In Detail

As with many of G-Form’s cases, the Extreme Portfolio boasts a utilitarian, military-esque look. And it should as its biggest selling point is in protecting your tablet.

Their latest line of cases are designed to absorb “over 90% of the energy of an impact and stiffens to act like armor to offer a high level of protection for your iPad”. As we said before, if their technology is good enough to protect your knees, shins and other sensitive areas in a mountain biking mishap, it’s safe to assume it’s good enough to protect your electronics too.

Sound construction aside, one reason we like this case over the previous Extreme Sleeve is the added ability to use it in a variety of configurations. It’s nice to be able to leave the tablet attached to the Portfolio and still watch movies on the plane, type out an e-mail, or surf the web and easily zip it up when you’re done.

It’s important to note that the Extreme Portfolio is suitable for: iPad, iPad2, iPad 3 (even though this isn’t specifically detailed on G-Form’s website), Motorola Xoom, HP TouchSmart, Acer Iconia, and Samsung Galaxy.

Pricing & Availability
