To celebration of India’s Republic Day, flight crew on the January 17th Finnair flight AY201 from Helsinki to Dehli donned Indian attire and danced down the airplane aisles to “Deewangi Deewangi” from the Bollywood blockbuster “Om Shanti Om.”

The idea for the tribute came from Helena Kaartinen, who has worked for Finnair for almost 32 years. She planned the highly choreographed routine with help from a former flight attendant in Mumbai, Manish Gawde, who also is a Bollywood instructor.

“We thought that we Finns all would work together for the Indian passengers to show them that we really care.”

So now the question is, will AirIndia pay it forward with Finnish folk dance on one of their flights? Finnish Independence Day is December 6th, so they will have plenty of time to prepare.
