Era Alaska Airlines’ brief but satisfying free beer promo is no more. The airline previously offered passengers of-age a free 6-ounce can of Single Engine Red on intra-Alaska flights. The airline was helping Denali Brewing Company with the promotion, until earlier this month when they had to pull it.

State officials notified Era that the promotion could violate state law (Alaskan companies cannot offer free alcohol as a marketing tool), which resulted in Era ending the promotion. But then they produced a more lawful promotion. Through the end of this month, Era is offering the beer to passengers on select flights for only $1–with the possibility of extending the offer.

As they say, there is no free lunch–or in this case, free beer. More on the story can be seen here.
