After decades without ‘comfortable’ innovations in coach class seating, Air New Zealand has introduced “Cuddle Class”–a redesigned seating arrangement that finally allows passengers to lie flat for sleeping, and just in time for the busy holiday travel season.

The seating works like this: in a three-seat row, armrests fold-away and a padded foot rest flips ups and locks, ensuring the maximum amount of sleeping space. Two passengers that choose the option will pay about half the cost of the third seat, typically an extra $500 to $800 for an overnight flight. They will also share a cozy 32-33 inch wide sleeping/seating space.
