With record temperatures hitting the United States this summer, a dip in a cold swimming pool sounds ideal. But why not try something different this year? Instead of a neighborhood pool, check out one of the lesser-known swimming holes across the country.

A number of the spots have waterfalls, including Arizona’s spectacular Havasu Falls as seen above. If you’re on the East Coast and the mercury just won’t stop rising, head to Maine’s Echo Lake where the lake temperature rarely gets above 55 degrees. Looking for free thrills?
