The Popocatepetl volcano has been very active over the last 24 hours, letting out about 100 bursts of steam, gas, and ash. The Mexican volcano, located about 50 miles away from the Mexico City International Airport, has interrupted flights since July 4.

American, Delta, and Alaska Airlines have canceled flights departing out of Mexico City, and the nearby  Toluca International Airport had cancelations as well. No word has been received on flight cancelations after July 5, but travelers should contact their airline if they are traveling in or out of Mexico City.
