Shitterton, Wankie, Wet Beaver Creek: Exploring the World’s Rudest Place Names

The history of place names can vary for a number of reason. Named after the founding father perhaps, or the first priest to bless the village and build a church. However, while Shitterton (Dorset, UK) might mean “farm at the stream used as a sewer”, the name still feels a little discourteous.
