Shiny new WaySavvy.com is a travel booking/search tool that promises to let:

… users find and book their perfect itinerary in one quick search. We analyze thousands of hotels and flights for each trip against user-specified and proprietary criteria to deliver the optimal “Savvy Choice.” Users can visually compare our top picks with the rest of the inventory in seconds. The result: entire process from destinations to confirmation takes 2 minutes, without ever leaving our site.

The site has a stripped-down, simple interface almost reminiscent of a mobile web app. It eschews much of the typical fluff (read: ads) and flare of other travel search engines in favor of displaying only those page elements the user actually needs. Here’s a brief demo:

We’re rarely fans of “let us do it all for you” web applications and that’s only because, frankly, most of them are lousy. However, our first spin through the WaySavvy.com site proved quite promising. Our search for a two-day trip from Providence to San Diego returned a lowest pre-tax cost of around $875. By way of comparison, Expedia offered almost exactly the same price.

One thing we’d like to see is for WaySavvy to use tax-inclusive pricing, which would make comparing their total trip costs to those from other booking engines much simpler. “Apples to apples” and all that …

For some travelers who like full control over every aspect of their trip planning, WaySavvy may not be for them. However, it seems an interesting and viable solution for others who’ll be happy to release some of that control in favor of a much quicker, simpler booking process.

Note that the site only allows for US-based travel searches at this time. But, as usual, the founders have big plans to expand it worldwide very soon.

  1. Would be cool if not for the fact that I keep getting an error message with my search. FAIL.
