The distinction of offering the longest commercial flight in the world will soon fall to Qantas now that Singapore Airlines plans to cancel its record setting 19-hour flights between Newark and Singapore. The move is part of an adjustment to the airline’s fleet that involves removing its Airbus A340-500 planes — which are used on these flights — from service and adding 5 new A380 aircraft to Singapore Airlines’ fleet.
Qantas route between Sydney and Dallas will become the new record-holder once the Singapore flights are discontinued.
