It may be a simple error, or perhaps it’s part of a vast cartographic conspiracy too large for us to see. Whatever the reason, observant users of Google Maps noticed that the Scottish island of Jura has gone missing. Jura appears on the satellite view of the region, but not on the map anymore.
Google hasn’t said much about how it happened, but a spokesperson indicated they are aware of the problem and that their engineers “are beavering away on it” to swiftly restore Jura to its rightful place in mapdom.
