For centuries the people of Galaxidi, Greece have been donning goggles and plastic suits and engaging in a battle fueled by thousands of small bags filled with colored baking flour.

The epic flour battle takes place every year on Shrove Monday, marking the beginning of Greek Orthodox Great Lent.

Galaxidi is a costal fishing village located 200 kilometers west of Athens and despite the Greek economic crisis the town’s citizens fund financed the event that attracts tourists both domestic and international.
