The U.S. Department of Transportation recently released new guidelines that might include exotic pets (including pigs, lizards, etc.) on commercial flights, for emotional support.

Declared as service animals, the pets would first have to fit a list of criteria to fly. Some animals, namely the miniature horse, are already used as an alternate to dogs for the visually impaired. Passengers asking to bring along tarantulas, snakes, ferrets and rodents cannot bring them into the cabin. Passengers may also be asked by airport personnel how the animal aids them and what training they have prior to boarding.
