Don Julian Santana found a doll floating in the canal on the island in 1951 near the body of a deceased young girl. He strung the doll up in a tree in her (assumed) honor. He continued to string up dolls in the tree until 2001 when he drowned in the very same canal. For real … you can’t make this stuff up.
