Earlier this month French officials seized 1.3 tonnes of pure cocaine entering the country on an Air France flight traveling between Caracas, Venezuela and Paris. The incident occurred on September 11, but details weren’t publicly released until this past weekend. The Guardian reports that Parisian police have arrested six men – three Britons and three Italians – and that Venezuela’s government has arrested three national guard officials for their involvement in the case. French officials are saying it’s the largest drug haul that the Paris area has ever seen. The drugs were transported in 30 suitcases registered under false names and the cocaine confiscated has an estimated street value of $270 million.
