Bug lovers are abuzz over reports of this year’s emergence of cicadas. Reports are starting to roll in to cicada-tracking websites (yes, that’s a thing) and early indications point to this being a big year.
Billions of the flying insects are expected along the east coast of the United States and at the peak of the emergence, cicadas can fill the sky and drown out other sounds with their chorus of “singing.” That may sound horrifying to some, but many are fascinated by this entomological phenomenon and will go out of their way to see it.
