Dubai’s latest vision of fantasy and reality, the Water Discus Underwater Hotel, will be stranded in a reef with rooms above and below the waterline.
Deep Ocean Technology’s proposed design will also feature a helipad, spa and gardens. The underwater rooms will be submerged 21 stories below the sea and the entire structure will be built to withstand potential impact from tsunamis.
The hotel’s investors claim that the hotel’s modular structure can [also] double as a “laboratory tool” with which to further oceanographic research in the region and work towards creating ‘new underwater ecosystems and activities on underwater world protection’.
