TribeWanted.com: Join a Tribe, Join a Community

For every one drooling on their keyboards over lunch and dreaming about escaping the cube for the forest, I’d like to introduce you to a community of like-minded friends. TribeWanted first joined the scene of escapists with a self-sustained community on the Fijian island of Vorovoro in 2006.

Vagabondish is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn a small affiliate commission. Read our disclosure.

In 2010, the tribe moved on to Sierra Leone’s John Obey Beach and now they turn their focus to Monestevole, Italy. They are just beginning their new community in a beautiful 15th century building surrounded by the gorgeous Italian countryside. A person can join the tribe either physically or in spirit as they start this new local, just check out the website for more information. Even if you can’t run away right now and help at the start, if you’re part of the tribe you are entitled to book space to stay should you choose/need to go live/stay/run-away with them in the future.

  1. I lived 2 months on Vorovoro Island in 2008, so I would definitely recommend participating in the Tribewanted Project. It’s an experience you won’t ever forget. For those of you still want to visit the island in Fiji, the lovely people from bridgethegapvillages.com took over the project and will re-open the island soon!
