An employee at the Toronto Zoo is being treated in hospital after being bitten by a venomous Massasauga rattlesnake. The worker is in serious condition, but expected to make a full recovery.

Eastern Massasauga rattlesnakes are the only species of venomous snake native to the province of Ontario and the zookeeper was feeding the snake when it bit her. Apparently the snake hadn’t read the memo about not biting the hand that feeds you.

  1. I went to Toronto Zoo on Friday 21st, 2013. I saw the rattlesanake in a cage. The exact same one. It wasn’t the day the rattlesnake bit the man though.
