Forget flying, travelers in the near future may be able to take a train across North America, Asia and Europe.
Russia has already given the go ahead to a nearly $100 billion tunnel project beneath the Bering Strait. The tunnel would be 65-miles long and link Russia to Alaska. The proposed tunnel is part of Kremlin plans to extend rail lines 2,360 miles to the north-eastern tip of Siberia by 2030.
No word yet from the US and Canada on if they plan to extend their rail network to connect the two continents.
The theoretical trans-continental rail journey is estimated to take nearly three weeks and most of the travel would be through the freezing Alaskan and Siberian tundra.
