This week, the city of Zurich took measures to reduce street prostitution and opened “sex drive-ins”””nine garage-style structures around the city.
The drive-ins are staffed with security personnel and are equipped with alarm buttons for added safety. The drive-ins will hopefully clean up the rampant open street prostitution that has escalated in Zurich. The drive-ins also provide showers, toilets, a kitchen, washing machines, and weekly visits by gynecologists. “We are trying to promote the independence and self-determination of the sex workers,” says Michael Herzig, of the Zurich social services department.
