A recent poll conducted for the Business Travel Show in London found that a pilot with a Home Counties accent to be the most reassuring accent for passengers. A Cockney accent was chosen as the least trustworthy accent, followed by a Midlands accent.
Given the results of the poll, airline expert and travel writer Dave Richardson stated:
There’s no doubt people want to feel safe when flying, and a clipped English accent is more likely to be reassuring than a regional one.
When asked to pick a particular favorite celebrity voice, actor Nigel Havers came in first followed by Sean Connery’s famous Scottish lilt, which seems like an obvious favorite–who wouldn’t want James Bond in the cockpit of their next flight?
