New York City Parks Open for Free Camping

Planning a trip to the Big Apple but finding that hotel stays will break the bank? Plan your trip dates accordingly and you could score free accommodation. The only catch? You have to sleep in a tent and only a select amount of space is guaranteed.

However, the best part of the deal is that you can spend the night under the stars in one of the most iconic parks–Central Park. Manhattan’s Urban Park Rangers is offering the special summer camping sessions, with dates in August and September at Central Park and dozens of other parks all over the five boroughs.

  1. AWWWEEESSSOOOMME! I tried to sleep in Central Park once when I was waiting in line for Shakespeare in the Park but the police kicked us all out around 1am.

    It’d be cool if it was actually allowed and there was a designated place for it.

    Though I can kinda picture this going the wrong way and there being a lot of homeless camping…ha.
