After two years and £3 million (nearly 4.8 million USD) to complete the construction, a Northumberland coalmine has been transformed into an outdoor sculpture of a naked woman.
The British sculpture (which looks more like an effigy of the Starbucks mermaid) is a rival creation to the “Angel of the North” in Cramlington. Northumberland’s land sculpture is known as the “Lady of the North”, but also known by affectionate working names such as Big Bird, Jordan and Slag Alice.
More on the sculpture can be seen at The Daily Mail.
