The United Kingdom’s National Trust has recently appealed for £1.2 million to save a section of the White Cliffs of Dover. The mile-long section would need the funding to help preserve it for future generations. The Trust is also hoping the funds will improve public access and aid in the wildlife habitats of the landmark.
Peregrine falcons and Exmoor ponies can be seen throughout the area and are among the wildlife threatened by the aging cliffs. Over time, the cliffs naturally erode, meaning the native wildlife loses space to thrive.
Fiona Reynolds, director general of the National Trust, said: If we don’t raise the money then the future of the White Cliffs is uncertain and this stretch of coastline might one day be disrupted by inappropriate management or development.
