A website that advertised Kentucky to British tourists as a destination to play “roadkill bingo” while visiting horse farms and bourbon distilleries has been taken down.
Gil Lawson, spokesman for the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, stated that the content on the website was offensive, including a game to track the number of dead animals along roadsides. Lawson also said the website contained many historical inaccuracies about the state.
The Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet has cancelled their $179,900-a-year contract with the British marketing firm responsible for the website, Gosh P.R.
No word yet on how many disappointed British tourists are roaming the highways of Kentukey in search of roadkill. If Kentuky proves to be a disappointment they should head to West Virginia for the Annual RoadKill Cook-off. Roadkill sightings are practically guaranteed at this event.
