The Fairmont Hotel in Pittsburgh is going to the dogs. Well just one dog in particular, Edie, the Fairmont’s new four-legged “canine ambassador.”
The 50-pound boxer/Labrador retriever mix wears an employee name tag and keeps an appointment book for guests who wish to sign up to take her on 20- to 30-minute jaunts around Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts are part of a growing trend of hotels that are keeping canines on staff to soothe and entertain guests. Even though their days are filled with dog’s work, it is hardly a rough life for these dogs. Besides loads of affection from visitors, Edie gets healthy dog treats prepared by Fairmont hotel’s executive pastry chef. Not a bad life for a dog.
