We’ve been huge fans of Photojojo.com for awhile now (note my gushing fanboy reviews of their products here and here). You might say that “we celebrate their entire catalog”.

So when they offered to send us a sample of their latest bit of photo gear goodness – the DSPTCH Camera Strap – we were of course stoked.
The Skinny
In Photojojo’s own words, the DSPTCH Camera Strap is:
… for the photo purists. Flashy extras have never been your thing. Functional with a flawless sense of style is your mantra.
Military-grade nylon keeps your camera secure, leaving your hands free and your mind focused on the art of the image. The strap’s width was designed to be not too thin and not too thick, so you can wear your DSLR comfortably without feeling bulky.
Plus, a clever quick-release keeps the fuss down when you need to take your strap off of your camera in a jiff.
In Detail
The DSPTCH is intentionally minimalist without any unnecessary flash, but the full feature list includes:
- Made of military-grade nylon webbing for durability
- Choose from black or olive
- Loops attach to any SLR or point-and-shoot camera
- Quick release latches for easy removal
- Adjustable length from 32″-48″
After traveling with it for the past week, we like it for two main reasons. First is that it’s infinitely more comfortable than the (awful) one provided with our Lumix GF-1. To be honest, I didn’t realize just how uncomfortable the standard manufacturer’s strap was (particularly after long photowalks) until I gave the DSPTCH a spin.
Second and perhaps most important is the quick release latches. Where before I was forced to constantly coil the strap around my hand (rather than put it on and take off throughout the day), now I can pop the strap off entirely in a matter of seconds.
These features may not seem like a big deal. But for travelers who keep their camera on them at all times (this guy included), these two features alone are worth the price of admission.
Pricing & Availability
Available now in black or olive for $46 (USD) directly from Photojojo.com.
Bottom Line
For many folks, a camera strap hardly seems like a must-have accessory. But for travel photographers and anyone who takes a ton of photos on the road, we think the DSPTCH is well worth the price.
