In Detail
There’s a lot to love about the Duo set. First off, the clever magnetic design means packing the set is a matter of “clicking” them together, slipping them into the provided pouch, and tossing them into your carry-on. What’s more: the construction feels plenty rugged enough to stand up to the rigors of daily travel.
We’ve tested a number of wired, portable speaker solutions, but this is among the first wireless Bluetooth speaker sets we’ve toyed with. And we’re in love. Simply setup the speakers wherever “the party’s at”, turn them on, and they pair instantly with your phone. After weeks of regular use, we’ve yet to experience any connectivity issues. They just … work. After going wireless, we’ll be hard pressed to go back to wired.
Battery life is impressive. DBEST claims nearly a full day of continuous playback and we found this to be almost spot-on. Even with three to four hours a day of regular use, you’ll still only need to charge the Duo approximately once a week.
Yeah, yeah, but what about the sound? You don’t have to be an audiophile to know that tiny speakers typically deliver tiny sound. While the Duo is compact, the audio quality is surprisingly good: solid bass delivery, a balanced mid-range and a clear high end without the pitchy, “tin can” reverberation typical of most similar speakers.
Pricing & Availability
Available now in rubberized black, red and glossy white finishes for around $60 USD.
Bottom Line
If you’re looking to enjoy your personal music collection beyond a pair of headphones, the Duo is hands-down the best $60 you can invest in on-the-go audio equipment. Highly recommended.
