A new survey conducted by LivingSocial found that Americans rate themselves as the world’s worst tourists.
LivingSocial surveyed 5,600 respondents in five countries.
Northern neighbors in Canada agreed with the Americans’ self assessment as did the Australian respondents.
The Irish, on the other hand, rated the British as the worst tourists. And the British thought that Germans took the prize.
The survey discovered that not only were Americans willing to bestow their fellow countrymen with the dubious distinction of “World’s Worst Tourists” they also are the most likely to lift something from their hotel rooms. Four out of 10 American respondents to the survey admit to having stolen or “accidentally packed” items other than the sample toiletries from hotels. Towels were listed as one of the most frequently nabbed items.
