Air India is investigating 161 claims of theft, fraud and abuse of perks amongst their flight crews. India’s aviation minister believes that this fraudulent activity is the leading cause of the airline’s financial troubles.
The claims run anywhere from staff stealing onboard caviar and whiskey, to pilots staying in four-star hotels rather than modest accommodations. There are also claims of spare airplane parts disappearing and being sold to rival airlines.
It seems that Air India’s crews are either dissatisfied with their jobs, or have a penchant for living on the edge. Read more from the Sydney Morning Herald.
