High brow booze in a low brow can? Why not. Scottish Spirits Imports Inc. will soon be putting prized liquor into a humble aluminum can.
Ken Rubenfeld, vice president of operations for Scottish Spirits Imports told The Huffington Post that they hope their can of scotch will stand out in its unique container.
“Having something that’s so creatively different — it piques the curiosity.”
Don’t let the simple aluminum can fool you into thinking the whisky has taken a nosedive in quality. Each can of Scottish Spirits will contain 12 ounces of 80-proof single grain scotch whisky distilled and matured for three years in oak casks in Scotland.
The only downside? A single 12 oz can contains 8 shots and unlike a bottle, cans cannot be closed after they have been opened. That will force Scottish Spirits drinkers to either finish all 8 shots of the blended scotch in a single occasion, or invite friends to join in on the fun.
The company hopes to have its cans on shelves in major American markets by Feb. 1, for about $5 apiece.
