Dehli belly. Montezuma’s revenge. The travel trots. Whatever you choose to call it, every serious traveler encounters intestinal problems at some point on the road. Usually our bodies fight off the bacteria or viral infection, but a few lucky people may find that they are carrying around more than just a couple extra “beer pounds” in their gut.
Since 1953, The Meguro Parasitological Museum in Tokyo has been paying homage to the parasitic friends you may have picked up on your last trip abroad.
The museum’s webpage greets visitors with the mission statement:
Try to think about parasites without a feeling of fear, and take the time to learn about their wonderful world of the Parasites.
The museum explores the life cycle of the parasite and has an entire floor dedicated to 300 actual specimens.
Don’t worry though””on their website the museum reassures visitors that since parasites need other animals to survive all the specimens are dead and pose no threat to visitors.
