The travel community was disappointed and dismayed by Google’s recent decision to cease publishing Frommer’s guidebooks, the news that Frommers founder Arthur Frommer has reacquired the brand is likely to make many people happy once again.
Google acquired the Frommers brand from publishing house Wiley & Sons in 2012. Arthur Frommer started the business back during the Second World War when he published his first guide called Europe On $5 A Day aimed at GI’s travelling overseas. He sold the company in 1977 to Simon & Schuster.
Frommer intends to resume publishing print guidebooks as well as ebooks and the Frommers.com website. Find out more about this in CNET
