Would you like fries with that foie gras burger?
After leaving the Japanese market two years ago, American fast food chain Wendy’s is looking to make a strong comeback in Japan. To stand out from competitor McDonalds, and local chains Lotteria and Mos Burger, Wendy’s is counting on a new premium menu which includes foie gras burgers and truffle topped chicken sandwiches.
The new incarnation of Wendy’s Japan is a joint venture between Wendy’s Co., which owns 49 percent, and Japan’s Higa Industries Co., with 51 percent.
The Japan Premium sandwich sells for 1,280 yen ($16) at Wendy’s in Tokyo’s Omotesando luxury shopping district, the first of 100 shops that will be opening throughout the year.
I wonder if fries cooked in premium oil will taste as good dipped in a frosty…
