A Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Costa Rica had to make an unexpected landing in Tampa, Florida, after a couple in first class began demanding food and Champagne and refused to sit down.
The couple, Peter and Gabriele Strohmaier of Dusseldorf, Germany were forced to disembark the plane in Tampa. The Strohmaiers have been on the defense, telling the Associated Press that the reaction by the Delta crew member was,
“exaggerated enormously and [the crew member] felt terribly insulted”
According to Mr. Strohmaier, the crew member told him that she was not pleased with his attitude when he requested beverage and meal service.
A spokesperson for Tampa International Airport stated that no charges have been filed again the couple. Of, course if having a “bad attitude” while in the air was a punishable offense, there would be a lot more 5-year olds being kicked of airplanes…
