Positioned as a premium off-road and utility e-bike, the GrandTeton-Pro boasts a beefy battery system, a powerful motor, and a suite of features designed to tackle demanding terrains and heavy loads. After more than two months of testing, it’s clear this bike is a serious contender for those seeking an e-bike capable of more than just leisurely city commutes.

Power and Performance

At the heart of the GrandTeton-Pro lies a potent, 750-watt brushless rear hub motor with a 900-watt peak output. It’s enough power to push this ebike to a 28 mph top speed with no problem. It delivers consistent torque, enabling effortless ascents on steep inclines and swift acceleration from a standstill. I found that, even in the wilds of White Mountain National Forest, it was more than enough power to tackle off-road climbs.

The bike’s performance is further amplified by its robust battery setup, a standout feature that sets it apart from many competitors. With a capacity of 705.6Wh, the GrandTeton-Pro promises an impressive range of more than 90 miles in optimal conditions. In my real-world testing, with factoring in terrain, rider weight, and assistance levels, I found the range closer to around 80 miles (still commendable).

The GrandTeton-Pro offers five levels of pedal assist, allowing riders to fine-tune the amount of motor support based on their needs. The throttle provides instant power on demand, useful for navigating tricky sections or enjoying a burst of speed. The combination of pedal assist and throttle provides a versatile riding experience, catering to both fitness enthusiasts and those seeking effortless transportation.

Build + Ride Quality

I’ve been consistently impressed with the build quality of Vanpowers’ e-bikes over the years, and the GrandTeton-Pro is no exception. It’s built from robust 6061 aluminum alloy, with a sturdy and durable feel. The bike’s design emphasizes stability and resilience, making it well-suited for off-road excursions and heavy cargo hauling. The fat tires, measuring 26 x 4 inches, provide excellent traction and shock absorption, contributing to a comfortable and controlled ride on varied surfaces.

The standard hydraulic disc brakes deliver reliable stopping power, crucial for managing the bike’s weight and speed, particularly when loaded with cargo. The front suspension fork, with 80mm of travel, effectively absorbs bumps and vibrations, enhancing ride comfort on rough terrain. The integrated rear rack is robust and practical, with ample space for carrying cargo or mounting panniers. (I found it to be an ideal setup for bikepacking!)

Features + Functionality

Beyond the solid motor and battery combo, I love the features of this electric bike, too. The bike’s lighting system, for example, includes a bright headlight and taillight for better visibility and safety in low-light conditions. The 1.9-inch color LCD display provides essential riding information, including speed, distance, battery level, and pedal assist level, at a glance. It’s an adaptive-brightness display that’s clear and easy to read, even in bright sunlight. Plus, the user interface is simple and intuitive, allowing for easy adjustment of settings and monitoring of performance without a lot of fussing through menus.

Handling

Despite its robust build and heavy-duty components, the GrandTeton-Pro offers a surprisingly smooth and comfortable ride. That’s largely thanks to its fat tires and front suspension that effectively dampen vibrations, minimizing rider fatigue on rough terrain. The bike’s geometry and wide handlebars contribute to confident handling and control.

That said, you do feel every bit of its 76-plus-pound build. This is no “ultra nimble commuter-friendly two-wheeler.” While the weight enhances stability and durability, it can make maneuvering the bike at low speeds or lifting it more challenging. However, the powerful motor and pedal-assist system compensate for the weight during typical riding, making it feel more agile than you’d expect of what is, essentially, an off-road-centric ebike.
