Some of our fondest travel moments were borne from serendipity and blind chance. By jumping in feet first without the slightest hint of expectation or control over where we were headed or what we would be doing next.

Fresh startup website Trveler.com has taken this concept and added a dash of organization to create a unique subscription-based travel service.
The Skinny
In their own words, Trveler.com is:
… a subscription-based spontaneous travel service that eliminates the stress of planning and instead lets you focus on the destination and the experience. Trveler is made for people that want to experience new things, meet interesting people and see the world.
How It Works
As Rolf Potts said, travel is about “the hum of possibility”. I love the idea of a service that promises I’ll be traveling within the next few months … but I’m not sure exactly when or where yet. It’s an exhilarating notion!
The service is simple and straightforward. Just select a package from the three available subscription levels (aptly titled “The Nomad”, “The Trekker” and “The Cruiser”). For example, the base level Nomad package offers one trip every three months that includes:
- 3 Days/2 Nights in a US city
- Roundtrip Airfare (US only)
- Hotel Stay (3 stars or above)
- 1 Meal (usually dinner)
No matter which package you choose, each includes roundtrip airfare (within the United States), hotel accommodations, transportation and some food. The top two premium tier packages include additional meals and even an adventure/excursion.
From there, you’re encouraged to keep your bags packed as you’ll be taking a new trip every three months. While subscribed, you’ll receive trip options every week for eight weeks – a total of 16 potential cities to choose from. The service offers travel to almost every major US city you can think of, including Seattle, New York City, Miami and Denver.
Each week, you can either choose from the current available trips or opt to wait for the following week and a new set of trip options. If you decide to wait, you’ll lose the opportunity to get in on the current week’s travel options. So it’s all a bit of a gamble, which is what makes a service like this fun in the first place.
Pricing
Customers are welcome to sign up now and choose from one of three subscription packages, priced between $129-$249 (USD) per month. Bonus: there’s no contract required – simply pay month-to-month.
The Bottom Line
The service is just now getting off the ground, but it’s a promising start for a unique and intriguing travel concept. If the trips offered are half as good as promised, their pricing options could prove an incredible value for travelers itching to get away … even if they’re unsure where to.
