Elon Musk, the founder of electric car maker Tesla Motors plans to pile his five kids into his Model S and drive across America, recreating a road trip he took during college.
The family vacation seems aimed at proving that long-distance travel is possible in electric vehicles. He claims that they will only need to stop for a total of nine hours to charge the car, which can be covered off during normal stops for meals or sightseeing.
Musk will take advantage of the newly expanded network of superchargers to make the 6-day, 3,200-mile journey possible.
