The study is the first of its kind. New research has measured the impact of ski and snowboard crashes to the human body, and compared the difference between wearing a helmet and not wearing one.
The results showed that there is a significant benefit to wearing a helmet while skiing or snowboarding. G forces were much lower when a helmet was worn and the researchers found that helmets significantly decrease the likelihood of serious injury or death.
While the study found that helmets have a tremendous benefit in reducing head injuries, it also concluded that helmets do not do much to protect skiers and snowboarders from neck injuries.
