Alas, the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever! has had a short run. The curtain will come down on the production prematurely in June, after lacklustre ticket sales, financial losses, and a series of bad reviews — including one critic’s comment that he wished it were possible to give it less than zero stars — prompted its cancellation. Producers had hoped to cash in on nostalgia for the 90s era pop stars and their smash hits, but were unable to replicate the success of similar offerings such as Mamma Mia! and We Will Rock You.
So if your summer travels to Blighty revolved around fulfilling your life’s wish of seeing Viva Forever! you’d better get a move on!
