Billed as the world’s fasted race on skates, Red Bull Crashed Ice will kick off in Old Québec on January 26, 2008. An adrenaline packed combination of downhill skiing, boardercross and hockey, the race involves a mad descent down steep turns and hairpin bends, and has been dubbed by former ice hockey pro Charles Wasley as the “biggest adrenaline rush you can have.”

Those mad enough to participate will have to first compete in the qualifying rounds which will lead to the number of contestants being whittled down to 64. From here on, the competition will be conducted in groups of four, with two contestants from each group moving on to the next round.
Begun in 2000 in Stockholm, Red Bull Crashed Ice has since been to Russia, Austria, the Czech Republic and the USA. But nowhere has the atmosphere been as charged as in Old Québec where the race was run last year.
This year the competition will return to the historic quarter just in time for the city’s 400th anniversary celebrations.
