Investigators are attempting to make sense of a mysterious incident that occurred at Tampa Bay International Airport. No one knows how Chad Wolfe, 31, ended up dead in an elevator shaft.
Wolfe arrived at the airport on a flight from Atlanta with his girlfriend, who claims to have told him to wait on the main concourse while she went to retrieve their luggage. She later reported Wolfe missing when she could not find him after several hours. The airport authority claims that Wolfe took the elevator up to the 7th floor not long after his flight landed, which is where his cell phone and hand luggage were later found. Wolfe’s father said it was not uncommon for his son to seek out outdoor spaces on the upper levels of buildings, as he liked to go for a smoke and see what views there were to be had.
Chad Wolfe’s body was discovered the following morning by maintenance workers who were investigating why one of the elevators was malfunctioning. Police have indicated that there was no apparent evidence of foul play. The investigation continues.
