Famed Galapagos tortoise Lonesome George may have died in 2012, but he won’t soon be forgotten. George, who is believed to have been the last of his sub-species, is being meticulously taxidermied, a process that is expected to take several months.
Once Lonesome George has been preserved, he will be put on display in New York’s American Museum of Natural History for an unspecified period of time before being returned to the Galapagos.
