A strike at Paris’ most famous landmark has shut The Eiffel Tower. The labor action began June 25th after talks broke down between the union representing the tower’s 300 employees and their employer.
One of the issues on the table is the deterioration of working conditions due the fact that one of the five elevators has remained out of service despite management’s promise to have it renovated and fixed. The resulting increase wait times has made the tower’s visitors unhappy and the staff’s jobs more challenging.
This is peak season for the Eiffel Tower, which attracts over 7M visitors annually. Visit News.com.au to find out more about this.
