At first glance I thought the Kiss Room might be yet another of Gene Simmons’ ventures, or maybe a tribute to the famous painting by Gustav Klimt, but it turns out that the guest room is actually named for its designer Mathias Kiss.
The Kiss Room is a pop-up space that will only be available for booking for 1,000 nights. The guest room is equipped with a luxurious handmade Swedish bed, an ensuite bathroom, and a minibar. It was created in a reclaimed space in the former storeroom of Paris bar. Guests can only stay one night in the windowless Kiss Room and must pay $750 EUR for the privilege.
What makes it worth the heavy price tag? The unusual decor, which is more akin to something you would encounter in a science center than hotel. Every available surface in the room has been covered with mirrored tiles — over 1,000 in total — which creates infinite reflections that become abstract and are intended to cause the room’s occupants to reflect on life and death.
