I’m sure there’s a witty quip in here somewhere about the owner being more of a blood-sucker than his real estate agent. But it’s late in the afternoon and my blood sugar’s low so you’ll just have to pretend that I came up with one.
Via Washington Post:
BUCHAREST, Romania, July 2 — An heir of Romania’s former royal family put “Dracula’s Castle” in Transylvania up for sale on Monday, hoping to secure a buyer who will respect “the property and its history,” a U.S.-based investment company said.
The Bran Castle, perched on a cliff near Brasov in mountainous central Romania, is a top tourist attraction because of its ties to Prince Vlad the Impaler, the warlord whose cruelty inspired Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, “Dracula.”
Legend has it that Vlad, who earned his nickname because of the way he tortured his enemies, spent one night in the 1400s at the castle.
No price was announced, though [it’s] predicted the castle would sell for more than $135 million.
Were I a multi-billionaire, this is the kind of stuff I’d buy. Just because I could.
On a side note: there’s nothing that makes my teeth itch more than when media outlets try to be cute when titling articles such as these. “‘Dracula’s Castle’ Is for Sale, but Will Buyers Bite?” Blech.
