I was as stunned as CJ from The West Wing when I first saw a Peters Projection map, but it piqued my curiosity. This list features some fantastic alternative projections including one that shows the time zones of Antarctica. Then, for anyone who even lingered on the map page at the beginning of a Tolkien book, there’s a fantastical graph paper and charcoal pencil cartogram of the United States.
